What Makes a Good Website for an Exporting Company?

25 July 2026·7 min read

A buyer abroad usually makes first contact with you not at a trade fair but on their screen. They search for your company on Google, open your website and decide within the first 10 seconds whether this company is serious and trustworthy. For an exporter, a website is not a business card; it is a sales representative that works silently.

A domestic website and an export website are not the same thing

Your customers at home may already know you. But a wholesaler in Germany, a contractor in Morocco or a distributor in the US has never heard of you. The only thing that will convince them is the sense of professionalism and trust your website gives. That is why an export website is built differently.

Essentials of an export website

1. The right language — "we have English" is not enough

Professional business English is the minimum. But if your target market is clear (Arabic for the Middle East, say, or French for North Africa), a version in that language raises conversions considerably. What matters is not translation as such, but that the buyer finds text in their own language written by someone who knows the industry's terms.

2. Product and technical content

A foreign buyer is not looking for "nice pictures" but for information they can base a decision on:

3. Trust signals

The biggest fear of a distant buyer is "if I send my money, will the goods arrive?" Your website should dispel that fear: quality certificates (ISO, CE), photos of the factory and production, the countries you export to, references and, where available, chamber of commerce registration or an official capacity report.

4. Easy, fast contact

When a buyer wants to ask for a quote, nothing should stand in the way. A clear "Request a Quote" form, a WhatsApp Business line and a business email address (info@yourcompany.com — not a personal Gmail) make a difference. An enquiry from the form should go straight to your team and not get lost.

For a foreign buyer, your website is the only thing they see before they see your factory. If the site looks amateur, the buyer assumes your production is amateur too.

Speed, mobile and findability

A slow-loading site loses a buyer who does not know you yet within seconds. The site must be fast, mobile-friendly and findable in search engines. Whatever words customers in your target market use to search for your product (usually technical terms in English), the site should be built around those words. Otherwise you build the most beautiful site and nobody finds it.

Your own website + a marketplace, together

The strongest setup for exporting is to use your own company website together with B2B marketplaces: the marketplace brings you a flow of new buyers, and your own site gives those buyers confidence and closes the sale. Each feeds the other.

We build multilingual, fast business websites for exporters that collect enquiries — so that quote requests land directly in front of your team.
